Our Constituency

Skipton and Ripon is one of the largest constituencies in England. We are a mainly rural area of the scenic Yorkshire Dales and we include many market towns such as Bentham, Settle, Pateley Bridge and Masham as well as the larger towns of Skipton and Ripon.

The lack of Public Transport is a big problem in our area. It is difficult to visit the Dales without a car, and there is no direct bus from Skipton to Ripon, among others. We support the better buses campaign led by the TUC and you can find more information on our Campaigns page.

Ours is a big agricultural constituency. Farming has been let down by the Tories for years, and more so recently, with the introduction of the complicated ELMS payments system.

There are pockets of hidden deprivation and isolation in our constituency which has been exacerbated by many long years of Tory control both nationally and regionally. Only a Labour government will combat this and improve our run down public services
